A Skill–Will Matrix is a simple chart that helps you look at what you’re doing and focus on what you should be doing instead. You’ll find an excellent example at Bitesize Learning’s Skill–Will Matrix.

  • One axis represents what you like to do.
  • The other shows what you’re good at doing.

Ideally, you want to spend most of your time in the top-right quadrant—the work you enjoy and excel at. That’s where your impact is highest and your energy strongest.

If you’re the face of your brand, your strength might be recording videos, meeting clients, or leading strategy. The goal is to make those activities as easy as possible by removing unnecessary steps or finding support.

Now, look at everything that falls into the “hate doing” or “not good at” sections. Those are the tasks that drain your energy and slow your growth. Start delegating, outsourcing, or automating tasks whenever possible.
